Counselling

Counselling

Our School Counsellor offers the opportunity for pupils to talk to a trained professional about their concerns or worries.  Our Counsellor provides support to enable pupils to work out for themselves what they want or need to do to bring about positive changes in their lives.  The service is completely confidential, and is available to pupils and their families.

Family support

Family support

At the West Cumbria Learning Centre we understand the need for a holistic approach when helping our young people.

We work with families offering advice and guidance around concerns affecting everyday family life.

Our Student Welfare Officers can offer support for a broad range of areas, including developing family relationships, setting and maintaining boundaries, managing drug and alcohol abuse, supporting families suffering domestic violence, help with budgeting, attendance related concerns and sign-posting to other agencies.

Pastoral Support

Pastoral Support

Our Intervention Assistants offer interventions tailored to the individual needs of our pupils including those relating to self-esteem, anger management, risk-taking behaviour and positive thinking.

The Centre also provides a system of Positive Time-Out where children can spend a short length of time away from lessons with a member of our team who can discuss short-term issues and offer guidance on overcoming difficulties

Multi-agency working

Multi-agency working

We are passionate about obtaining the best possible outcomes for all families associated with the West Cumbria Learning Centre. Therefore we work within, and actively promote, a multi –agency approach to provide the right help at the right time.

We have strong links with local agencies and have a good knowledge of who to contact when needs arise
